Nowadays, most of the consumption of various industries are assigned to steel sheets because these metallic sheets can have different applications in various samples. On the other hand, according to physical appearance, the steel sheets are more attractive than any other sheets. Some of these metallic sheets could have been used in different parts of the goods because of having attractive and beautiful colors. You usually have heard the name of a white sheet or the galvanized sheet but it is good to get familiar with other samples of these sheets as anti-rust and resistant sheets.
What is the steel sheet ?
A steel sheet is a kind of metallic sheet that its surface is smoother than the iron, steel or any other metallic sheet. Usually, the steel sheets have an important advantage over any other shear sheets that this advantage is hidden in the roll type or ram type of the steel sheet and this physical shape has resulted that the presentation of this product to be significantly higher than other metallic sheets. These kinds of sheets have various types that are produced and named from different raw materials and different methods.
Various types of steel sheets
Each of various samples of steel sheets has the unique physical appearance and structural specifications that based on their structure, each of the steel sheets can be used in different sections that form the steel sheets, the followings can be mentioned:
Hot sheet or the black sheet
Cold sheet or the oil sheet
Galvanized or white sheet
Introduction of hot or black sheets
The black sheets that are famous as hot sheets among the supplier and sellers are produced in two types of normal black sheets and industrial black sheets in different sizes and standards. In the metal market, the ST index is used to evaluate the quality of the hot sheets that this index is used according to the carbon content of the black sheets. It means that the back sheet of st37 has the lowest carbon content and has the maximum flexibility but the black sheet with the st52 index has the maximum carbon content and the minimum flexibility. These steel sheets are the most famous steel sheets that are used for steel frame construction, tank constructions, shipbuilding industry, automobile construction, providing water and chemicals tanks, civil works especially the construction of sheds and heavy metallic industry.
Cold sheet or the oil sheet
The cold sheets that are called the oil sheets in vulgate in various industries are another sample of steel sheets that are constructed utilizing the most novel techniques by cold rolling. Usually, in producing the oil sheets by rolling, the thick sheets are converted to thinner sheets ad are mostly used in applications that the oil sheets form the physical appearance of the sample. It is good to know that this kind of cold sheets have different types including common sheets, semi stretch sheet, full stretch sheet according to the alloy type in producing the oil sheet and also the heat treatment, which the most of their application is in producing the white or galvanized sheets. In fact, because the colored galvanized sheets are produced from the simple galvanized sheets then, the cold sheets can be assumed as the basis for colored galvanized sheets. It is interesting to know that the cold-rolled sheets that are the cold sheets have standard weight and have an equal size with normal steel sheets.
Galvanized or white sheet
As mentioned before, the basis for the construction of galvanized sheets is the oil sheets in such a way that during a chemical process, several microns of zinc metal will be coated on the surface of the cold sheets so they would become resistant against rusting and corrosion. Please note that the combination of zinc metal with oil sheets is severe to some extent that even when the sheet is cut or a fracture occurs, the steel sheet won’t rust. In fact, as the amount of the zinc coating increase on the galvanized sheet, it means that the amount of zinc metal is higher on the surface of the oil sheets and therefore, the quality of the sheet will be better. The most important application of these sheets includes: vehicle industry, good packing for transportation, paper, and pipe industry, civil and construction works like heater pipes, advertisement billboards, cooler channels production, kitchen cabinet production and anywhere else that needs the steel sheets utilization, but there is the probability for rusting and damage.
Colored sheets are made of galvanized sheets that are coated in special furnaces to the desired color. In fact, the surface of the galvanized sheets are coated 20 to 25 microns of thickness in two steps and the back of the sheet is coated with 15 to 17 microns of coating in one step. The coating will increase the resistance of these steel sheets against rusting and corrosion and also, the colored sheets can have more applications in corrosive environments that have a higher content of acids or bases and also higher content of moisture. From the applications of colored sheets, the following can be mentioned: utilization of these sheets in the construction industry for the stepped ceiling, roof and body of the workshops, interior or exterior parts of some of the buildings. Of course, they have been used in the construction of some of the home appliances like washing machines, heaters, and refrigerators.
The acid sheets are the black sheets that have been swept by hydrochloric acid (HCl) and become purer and by eliminating its black inclusions, it will become shinier and will be more similar to oil sheets that of course, will be called the acid-washed sheet. These kinds of steel sheets are used for shipbuilding, construction of ring and some other parts of the vehicle like chassis due to their hardness and anti-wear properties.
Another type of steel sheet is the tin-plated sheets that their basis is the black sheet. To produce the black sheet, at first, the hot sheet will become thicker by cold rolling and then will be coated in the rolled state using an electrolytic process with the aim of tin metal or molten chromium. Of course I some conditions for more protection of the metal, it has been tried to use the polymeric coating. It is good to know that tin-plating the steel sheets is performed only to make the sheet anti-corrosion and for preventing the corrosion process and will not make any other advantages in the steel sheet. For this reason, most of the applications of the tin-plated steel sheets include cans, flowerpots, and trays. However, nowadays, the tin-plated sheets are used in the construction of automobile pieces, building construction, home appliances, and photographic negatives.
